Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday took to Twitter to congratulate Indian archers for their "stupendous performances" at the Archery World Cup in Paris.

PM Modi said that the performances from the archers will inspire youngsters striving to excel in the field.

"The last few days have witnessed stupendous performances by our archers at the World Cup. Congratulations to @ImDeepikaK, Ankita Bhakat, Komalika Bari, Atanu Das and @archer_abhishek for their success, which will inspire upcoming talent in this field," Narendra Modi tweeted.

Indian Archers shined at the World Cup stage 3 to take India's tally of gold to 7. After the completion of the penultimate stage, India is leading the points tally with 8 medals (1 bronze).

Deepika Kumari was the most prolific star from India as she first combined with Ankita Bhakat and Komalika Bari to notch up the women's recurve team gold with a comfortable win over Mexico. She then paired up with husband Atanu Das and the couple from a 0-2 deficit to down the Netherland's Sjef van den Berg and Gabriela Schloesser 5-3 for the gold medal.

Later, The Ranchi archer then blanked 17th ranked Russian Elena Osipova 6-0 to cap a perfect three out of three in the recurve women's section, her fourth individual World Cup gold medal.

Deepika Kumari on Monday regained the number one position in the global rankings following her hat-trick of gold medals.

India also won a gold medal through Abhishek Verma in the compound individual event. Abhishek Verma beat USA’s Kris Schaff in a thrilling tiebreaker. Verma created history by becoming the first man to win two World Cup gold medals in individual compound archery.
